Program Description

Event Details

Brighten the holidays for veterans and active-duty military with a heartfelt card! The library is proud to participate in the Holiday Cards for Our Military Challenge, a nationwide effort to send warm, handwritten holiday cards to veterans and active-duty service members. 

  

We will be accepting cards from October 1 through November 1 to ensure they arrive in time for the holidays. 

  

You can pick up a card at the reference desk to fill out or drop off your own handmade one.  

Please follow the official guidelines below: 

  

Card Guidelines 

Start with “Dear Warrior” 

Address your card with "Dear Warrior" to keep it respectful and inclusive. 

  

Write a Holiday or Gratitude Greeting 

Share kind holiday wishes—remember our troops come from diverse backgrounds and beliefs. 

  

Include a Personal Note 

Talk about your holiday traditions or favorite memories. 

(Avoid political messages or anything that might be upsetting to someone in a combat zone.) 

  

Sign with First Name Only 

Include your first name (or nickname) , town, and state.  

  

Military or First Responder? 

Feel free to mention if you're a veteran, first responder, elected official, or part of a civic group. 

  

Card Size 

Handmade cards should be no larger than 8.5 x 11 inches folded in half. 

  

No Envelopes Needed 

Please do not include envelopes, return addresses, or social media handles.
